Helping a Burnt-Out Caregiver Stay Afloat

Donation protected

Hi, I’m Erin.

I’m a full-time caregiver for my mom, who’s living with dementia and mobility issues. I love her so much, but caregiving can be really hard — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I also deal with my own mental health challenges (ADHD and CPTSD), and some days it just feels like I’m holding everything together with tape and hope.

I know times are tough for so many people right now, and I wouldn’t be asking if I wasn’t at the end of my rope. Anything you can spare means more than I can put into words.

Here’s what’s happening:
Because of the Canada Post strike, I never got the notice that my overdraft was being lowered from $500 to $200. It might not seem like much, but losing that $300 cushion has thrown everything into chaos. My ODSP barely covers the basics as it is, and I’ve been living in overdraft just to make ends meet.

Now, any money that comes into my account will automatically go toward covering that $300 difference — leaving me short on rent (which just went up), bills, and even groceries for Mom and me. I tried to fight it, but there’s nothing that can be done.

If I’d had even a little warning, I would’ve done things differently. But life has a way of knocking me down just when I start to get back up. I’m doing my best to stay strong for my mom, but I’m exhausted, scared, and just need a bit of help to keep us stable.

If you can donate, share, or even just send some encouragement — it all means the world to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for caring about two struggling souls just trying to make it through.
