I am Rev. Nugegalayaye Jinananda Thero, the President of the Buddhist Congress of Canada and the Chief Incumbent of Hilda Jayewardenaramaya Buddhist temple in Ottawa, located at 1481 Heron road, Ottawa, ON, K1v 6A6. I am organizing this fundraising initiative to support 500 school children who have suffered from the recent cyclone in Sri Lanka.

Thousands of children have lost their homes and family members, and many are struggling to continue their education. Together with my friends and supporters In Canada & the USA, I hope to assist at least these 500 children from Kandy and Badulla district so they can continue their studies and look toward a brighter future. This is the purpose of launching this fundraising effort.

Once the collection is complete, the funds will be sent and used to purchase school stationaries by Purawara Sarasavi Mithuro - a non-profit organization in Sri Lanka, to distribute the fund among the selected children.
