As some of you may or may not know, our friend Ian needs to undergo surgery within the next week for his ankle. He fractured his Lateral Malleoli, tore his lateral ankle ligament and possibly his deltoid ligament.
An injury on his knee occurred while playing basketball with coworkers. He signed up for Covered CA when this happened, however, it was going to take a month before he could see a doctor for his knee. During this waiting period, he had a planned visit to see his brother in Portland and due to slipping in the rain and his already injured knee it made him susceptible to other injuries, which in this case was a fractured ankle.
He got on his scheduled flight back home, only to find out that his ankle was more than just sprained and needed this surgery within 3 days of being seen in the ER. It has been more than 3 days and because he could not be covered through Medi-Cal and Covered CA was going to take a month to kick in, he has no other choice but to get the surgery asap and pay out of pocket.
The doctors gave him an estimate of f $13,000- $60,000 for the surgery without insurance but are asking for a good faith deposit of $5,000 by next Friday.
As most of us know, he is a contractor and his contract is also coming to an end, so this is a really stressful time for him. We would like to help him out with whatever your heart desires to reach the goal of $5,000 ideally by next week or he will have to reschedule the surgery until he has enough to cover this deposit and can only hope the donations exceed the deposit to help with total costs.
We are asking for your help friends and family so Ian can heal soon and pay for at least the deposit as the surgery already has been prolonged.
