Hi, my name is Heather, and I’m pursuing my dream: becoming a Structural and Wildland Firefighter-EMT. This is more than a career-shift, it’s a calling rooted in service, community, and protecting both the people and lands that I love.

My Journey:

In 2025, I took one of the scariest (and BEST) leaps of my life: I left my corporate job in Florida, packed up my things (and my side-kick bunny Nova), and moved across the country to Oregon. Since arriving, I’ve immersed myself in the community by volunteering every chance I get with these organizations (and more):

If you’ve ever met me, you’ll know I have an endless passion for helping people, protecting animals, and exploring the outdoors. Service has always been at the center of my life whether it involved low-income housing, Hurricane Relief, building Orphanages, initiatives for the homeless, and much more. Equally, I’m a natural leader, analytical thinker, and someone who thrives in high-pressure situations.

I’ve spent years building toward this dream and I bring a diverse, well-rounded professional background that includes Regional HR Management for 5 Florida airports, strategic profits in Transportation Logistics, and non-profit Advocacy and construction-work with Habitat for Humanity. These experiences trained me to stay calm, lead with accountability and compassion equally, and problem-solve efficiently; all skills directly applicable to the operational and team-based nature of Firefighting. I understand the importance of coordination, communication, safety protocols, and working together to achieve our goal. But above all, I CARE DEEPLY.

And after endless planning and preparation, I’m ready to take my passion and dedication to the frontlines as a firefighter!

Why I Need Your Help?

While I’m committed to giving this dream my all, the reality is that becoming a Firefighter-EMT comes with steep costs and intensive schooling and studying. My training in both the Clark County Fire District EMT program and the Department of Interior’s BLM Fire Academy both act as full-time jobs and prevent me from having a full/part time job for income. In previous years, federal assistance programs existed for low-income people pursuing firefighting careers, but sadly they were among the many Federal funding cuts in 2025.

WHY it Matters?

Wildfires in the Pacific Northwest are growing more dangerous each year. Communities, homes, and lives are at stake. I’ll be using my strength, fire, and medical training as well as my heart for service to protect people, animals, property, and the land.

I’m ready for the hard work, sacrifice, and responsibility this career demands—but I can’t do it without support. I can’t do it alone.
