On Wednesday, June 10th, my grandmother's house caught fire. She and my disabled aunt escaped the fire with minor burns, smoke inhalation, and only the clothes on their back. The fire started in my grandmother's room and she has lost absolutely everything. I am very thankful for their lives, which is more important than anything else.

Unfortunately, my grandmother (and aunt), literally, only have the clothes on their back. My grandmother and aunt lost what little savings they have because like many old people, they kept it stashed away at home. 

My grandmother is 89 years old. She and my aunt have lived in their home since the 1960's. The next year is going to be very difficult for them. I have set up this fund in order to help them with what they may need now, and hopefully to help get them into a place until the house is restored. I was told by the emergency contractor who boarded up the house that on average it will take around 9 months for the home to be restored, and insurance normally only covers around 3 months in rental assistance.
