Hi my name is AJ, when I was deployed in Afghanistan, my wife would often send me video's of the kids doing something funny or cute, it helped while being away from them. This time, my wife faced time me and wanted to show me something our 4yr old daughter Isabella, who we call "Izzy" had done. See, Izzy is like me, she loves art, and is always coloring or drawing, this time she was going between inside and outside on our deck coloring. But, Izzy wanted to keep her coloring pencils close by, so my wife said to me, "Look what your daughter came up with", and proceeded to show me, Izzy had put her hair band around her wrist and stuck all of her colored pencils underneath, so they stayed on her arm and she could move from place to place in the house coloring. I was amazed at how smart and ingenious my daughter at 4 could be. Later that night, I was thinking about what she had done and it sparked an idea in me, so, the next day, I got to it. I took a strip of material much like our name tags on our uniforms and went to the local who fixed and sewed our clothing on base. I asked if he had access to an embroidery machine and if he could embroider "Izzy Pens" on one side and velcro on the other. This was the beginning, after coming back stateside, I continued to work on it to finalize a working model. After finalizing it, I knew I was on to something and eventually applied for a "provisional" or "patent pending", I created all of the required documents, to include Izzy and I as co-inventors to Izzy Pens, submitted them to the United States Patent Office and then waited. On October of 2022, we received that letter and were so excited that we had been granted a "Patent Pending" #63/369,167. The feeling was incredible, Izzy was so excited and proud, she took it to school for show and tell and all the kids in her class wanted to know when they could get one. The dream was getting closer, now, we are ready to produce and start selling Izzy Pens and give kids the ability that Izzy created, to take coloring fun ANYWHERE!
