My ex-boyfriend and I drove to Arizona to retrieve my two cats who were being fostered. When I arrived, I found out that one of my cats (Batshit) had been abused, thrown out, and was missing. I spent hours searching but ultimately had to return home with only one of my cats, Reeces.
On the drive back, I was extremely sleep-deprived and emotionally exhausted from everything that had happened. I laid down in the backseat to rest and hold my cat. A couple hours later, I woke up to the car swerving, and within moments the car flipped several times. It landed on the driver’s side door, and we had to crawl out through the passenger side with my cat.
Thankfully, none of us were seriously injured, including Reeces, but the situation left me shaken and dealing with major financial stress afterward.
Right before the trip, my car urgently needed four new tires because the old ones were completely worn down and unsafe. Since the trip was sudden and I didn’t have the savings or credit to cover it, the tires were put on my ex-bfs credit and came to about $600.
During the trip we also had travel expenses, including around $150 in gas. While we were in Arizona, I also received citations for my car’s expired license and registration, which totaled about $1,600.
Between the accident, the unexpected trip costs, and everything that followed, I’ve been trying to recover financially. I created this GoFundMe to help cover these expenses and get back on stable ground.
