My name is Jimena Bárcenas and I am a friend of Francesca´s mom since we were 6 year´s old. We went to school together in Mexico City all the way up to high school. They now live in Canada.
All of the funds will go towards buying Francesca Breakthrough Technology glasses called esight
These glasses are packed with sophisticated technology designed to support people with legal blindness. eSight is hands-free, mobile, and multi-use, which means that users can move seamlessly between activities, including those that would otherwise be inaccessible due to low vision.

We need just a little more of your help to keeping Francesca´s eyes open !!
Francesca C. Tietzsch is a beautiful and talented 10 year old girl. She sings like an angel, loves music, dancing and just lights up a room as soon as she walks in. Loves Legos and her favorite tv show is The Ellen Show.

Unfortunately 1 year ago she was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Stargarsdt desease.

Stargarsdt desease affects one in 10,000 children and teenagers.
Stargardt affects both eyes and develops sometime between the ages of six and twenty, when kids notice difficulties in reading or adapting to bright light. The cause and treatments of the disease in young people are different from those of Age-related Macular Degeneration. Stargardt disease is the result of a gene called ABCA4 and is usually a recessive trait.

With Stargardt’s Disease, the macula and surrounding retina are affected. The macula is the very center of our retina. The images we see are focused on the retina like the film in the camera. Unlike camera film where every part of the film is equally sensitive, our retina concentrates the most sensitive vision in the very center. Additionally, our best color vision resides in the macula. Thus, damage to the macula results in loss of visual acuity or sharpness of vision, decreased color vision and small blind spots.

Stargardt disease, does not have a cure yet.
Her vision now is 20-150, legally blind is 20- 200
All we can do right now is help her get some especial glasses so that we can prolong longer the use of her sight.

They are very expensive but we know that with your help and support we can make it in time for Francesca to see the world as much as possible.

“Don’t listen to negative influences. Believe in yourself, and show others what you can do. Only “you” can find your potential.”
Marla Runyan, US Olympian and Stargardt’s patient and the first legally blind athlete to compete in the Olympics
