Street Tails Animal Rescue has always been especially focused on animals with special needs and right now some of those animals need a little extra help!
Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo was found April 13th in South Philadelphia by a STAR volunteer. While we usually don't take animals directly from the public, this little guy was in desperate need of our help. He was picked up on the street wearing his sweatshirt and a harness. His rescuer thought immediately that he must've been lost! Who leaves a dog....fully dressed up in his wardrobe- out to fend for himself?!
When he first arrived at STAR, we noticed that he was in obvious discomfort. He was urinating blood, so went straight the the vet. Poor Alfa has a large bladder stone that needs to be removed immediately. In addition to the bladder stone, Alfa also has a thyroid condition, and will need to be on medication for the rest of his life. The very sad side effect of this condition is alopecia...leaving him hairless on most of his body. Perhaps he can be listed as a Chinese Crested mix?!
Alfa is scheduled for surgery on Monday, at which time he will have his bladder stone removed. However, with the surgery costing a minimum $1500 plus the cost of his after care, our funds are running low. Please help this little guy get back on his feet and into a loving home!
Orca & her Guppies

and these are her guppies!
Orca came to STAR just about ready to pop! Thanks in part to dad's size and the number of puppies, Orca had to have a C-Section the next day to help deliver her babies. As sad as it is for any animal to be left at shelter, in Orca's case- we are grateful that she was- as she would have never been able to survive a natural birth.
The cost of caring for these babies coupled with their spays/neuters (when they're old enough), and mom's C-Section will exceed $4000.
We're grateful that we have the opportunity to help both Alfa & Orca/her guppies (along with all of our other special friends at STAR), but we can't do it alone! STAR counts on donations to be able to continue our mission of helping animals in need. We've helped some amazing animals thanks to the continued support of our donors and we need your help to do it again. Every little bit counts! Thank you in advance for all of your support!
