As some of you may know my brother Alvaro (Lalo) was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and it has taken a toll on his poor body. For those of you that don't know or understand the illness, Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs and digestive system. It affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices. These secreted fluids are normally thin and slippery. But in people with cystic fibrosis, a defective gene causes the secretions to become thick and sticky. Instead of acting as a lubricant, the secretions plug up tubes, ducts and passageways, especially in the lungs and pancreas. Life expectancy is usually early 30's to late 40's and if lucky early 50's. we have been lucky enough to have had Lalo for 20 years but unfortunately Lalo's body is shutting down and his lungs are giving up. This has caught us all off guard and it is the worst feeling in the world to watch him helplessly in his hospital bed. He wanted nothing more then to live a normal life like his twin brother but his body just wouldn't let him. He was always weak an couldn't catch his breath, He took so many pills a day and had to be constantly on his machines at home. He's now completely sedated and the doctors say that his lungs are so severely damaged that even if he does pull through he won't be the same and he will need more at home care. This is my baby brother and even though it kills me to even think about losing him we must prepare ourselves for the worst and come into terms with reality. We can all say we have pride but sometimes we have to swallow it and ask for help. So to my friends and family and to anyone willing to help, I ask that you help us raise money to help plan for lalos funeral arrangements. To even say that kills me but it's reality and even tho it hurts it's life. There's no better way to say that, I don't want to let go of my brother and I know he's holding on with whatever strength he has I just ask that you keep my family in your prayers in this time of need. Anything will help. Thank you for all your support and prayers we leave it in Gods hands.
