Hi, my name is Kuma and I am a Shiba Inu living in beautiful sunny San Diego. I just turned 10 years old this summer and my age is starting to catch up to me. However, I still feel like a puppy at heart and on the average day my arthritis doesn’t stop me from taking strolls, frolicking in the water, playing fetch or wrestling with my sister.
Unfortunately, I injured both my knees recently. I received a TPLO surgery on my right leg not too long ago and because of the compensation during the healing process, my left leg gave out while I was playing ball on the grass last week. I need a second surgery in order to walk properly or else my arthritis can worsen quickly and can debilitate me long term.
I hope and pray I can play fetch one last stretch before my running days are over. It is my most favorite part of my day other than snuggling with my person. She has done so much for me and all I want to do is be here a little longer. With your help I can be one step closer to surgery and healing soon.
Owner’s note:
Kuma was the best Birthday present I have ever received when I turned 21. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime or unconditional best friend. He has been by my side through every move, breakup, career change, grad school stress, happy moment, and special occasion. He has licked every tear and brought millions of smiles to faces. His silly personality has lifted so many spirits and he has taught me humility, patience and mindfullness. I know he has some good years left in him before he crosses rainbow bridge and I can't imagine when that day comes.
Our pets can be our biggest teachers and healers. I owe him more time and kindness as that is all he has ever given to me.
To all my friends, family, clients, and fellow pet lovers:
I know the past couple of years have brought adversity to many people. And I know some are not in a position to help donate. All I ask is if you will please send this message along to any folk who may be able to. Any amount of aid will help this unfortunate circumstance. I have had some financial setbacks this year because of my own health concerns making it difficult for me to work full time.
In under the last 11 month span, Kuma’s new surgery + last surgery and recent GI hospitalization are approximately 9k total out of pocket costs.
I am hoping to give him a few last years of health and love in his happy family home. With your help, I can make that happen.
If you live in the San Diego area, I am giving discounts accordingly for healing body work in order to give back to the community for your kind donations.
Stay PAWSitively BLESSED you beautiful souls.
Thank You so much,
Love, Paris and Kuma.
