As many of you know, 7 years ago Ezra Burger, our little Super Man, suffered for many painful months while his tiny heart was failing. At 18 months of age, he received a live changing gift...a new heart.
I am in disbelief as I write these next words...Ivan Burger, Ezra's younger brother, is now in need of a heart transplant as well. At three years of age, suffering from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a rare genetic disease found in children, (and the same disease Ezra had) he is having to endure what no child ever should...
The Burger Family is taking this journey, as they did with Ezra's, day by day....Ivan is currently on the Donor List, awaiting a new heart. Until then, we are going to do everything we can to try and take some of the financial burden off of Annie and Leo. All of the money raised from this campaign will go towards transportation, medical and living expenses for Annie, Leo, Ezra, Eleanor and Ivan.
Ivan is currently at Milwaukee Children's Hospital, and Annie and Leo will be making many trips there. Being self employed, they do not have the luxury of paid time off/sick time, etc. so if they are not working, they have no income coming in. They will be needing gas, food, and possibly hotel stays when making the frequent trips to Milwaukee. This campaign will also help to pay for any medicals bills, medications, etc. not covered by insurance.
The support the Burgers were shown when Ezra was sick is insurmountable. We can only hope to get as much for our sweet Super Man II, Ivan.
Annie and Leo have been through more than any couple should...
