Hi everyone,
Over the past six months, I have been dealing with something quietly and privately. It is only until recently that I have felt stable enough to share it with you all. I'm not used to asking for help, but this year has come with some real emotional and financial challenges.
Within the span of 3 months, my eleven-year-old Shiba, Floyd, has had to undergo two TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgeries. These procedures were necessary to stabilize his knees after alignment injuries.
Along with imaging, medications, and frequent post-operative care, I took on over $15,000 in medical expenses.
If successful, it will hopefully allow him to walk without pain for the remainder of his life.
I would make that same decision again without hesitation. He has been my companion for over a decade, through many phases of life. These surgeries were about giving him comfort, stability, and a chance to move without suffering.
He is currently still in recovery.
The hardest part right now isn't the care; it's the financial weight of the credit card balances I took on to make these surgeries possible.
My goal is $10,000.
This will go toward paying down the surgery-related debt and helping cover ongoing rehabilitation and follow-up care. Any support helps relieve the pressure while he heals.
If you feel moved to donate, no amount is too small. If donating isn't possible, sharing this page or sending encouragement means just as much.
Thank you for reading something that wasn't easy for me to share. And thank you for caring about a senior dog who still has so much life left in him.
With gratitude,
Maria, Floyd, and the rest of my family (who has played an enormous role in his recovery)
