Chennai, a city of 4.6 million people on India's southeast coast, is reeling from some of the heaviest and deadliest rains in decades.
Flooding killed at least 272 people in the region, according to the National Disaster Response Force.
At least 100,000 people were stranded in flooded homes and more than 3 lakh people rendered homeless.
Who you are: - I am Vimala Victor working in the IT industry of a reputed firm in the Dallas Fort-Worth area.
Where you're from: - I hail from Chennai and this fund raising is for the people affected in the floods in Chennai which is also my birth place.
Who am I funding through this campaign: -This fund will be given to group of friends, who are identifying families in the affected areas in Chennai. They are buying all basic necessaties listed below and handing over to the affected individual families.
How the funds will be spent: -
My friends are identifying families who lost everything in the flood and they will use this fund to provide them the following basic things:
1. Groceries for one month
2. Basic medicines
3. Basic cooking utensils
4. Clothes
5. Bed sheets , sleeping mat
6. Provide books, stationary and study materials for school and college going students
We will continue to keep everyone updated as we make progress in our rehabilitation process and if you have ideas and suggestions, please let us know. Together, we will make a difference.
