Danny is 20 years old and in end stage renal failure (ESRF). He was first diagnosed with kidney disease early in his sophomore year and as the disease progressed, he was told by his nephrologist that he would not walk across the stage for high school graduation or finish his career playing hockey for the Cobras. Despite his prognosis Danny achieved both obstacles with prayer, family and friends along with a strict diet which slowed the progression of his kidney disease. Danny is grateful for the extra time he was given to live an active life, but his prognosis has now caught up with him and he is waiting for a living donor to give him his life back.
While waiting for a match Danny's health continues to decline and his medical bills have become unmanageable. Because of Danny's age he is deemed an adult and financially responsible for these bills. He is still covered under his parent's medical insurance which his Mom, Tiffany carries but is on FMLA due to the extent of Danny's care and medical appointments. Dan and Tiffany (Dad and Mom) are now paying their insurance premium out of pocket and are down to Dan's income alone. Danny sees many specialists, receives dialysis 10 hours a day and takes over 30 pills daily. Danny and his family have a long road ahead of them and the top priority is Danny receiving a kidney, however this has caused a heavy financial burden on the whole family.
With all of that being said I want you to know Danny and his family. They are much more than their current situation and this disease does not define them. Dan and Tiffany have been married for 21 years and have three beautiful children: Danny, Nolan and Emma. Dan and Tiffany have devoted their lives to their children's' sports and activities. Danny's a student at South Suburban College and works at Hog Wild in Midlothian. He loves to play hockey, golf and fish. All these things Danny enjoys are on hold due to his disease but also because he was recently diagnosed with Guillain Barre and is unable to walk. Nolan is 17 and a Junior at Bremen High School. He plays hockey, baseball and loves to golf and fish. Emma is 14 years old and an 8th grader. She plays softball, volleyball and is a Girl Scout. They have two dogs, a German Shepherd and a South African Boerboel and a goose named Casey that Dan and Nolan rescued one day while fishing. They are active parishioners at Moraine Valley Church and Danny has strong support from the church youth group. Their favorite family weekends are spent outdoors and fishing. Most importantly they're a loving family that deserve to have their lives back.
Danny and his family are truly living a nightmare while obstacles are thrown at them every day. Any amount you can donate will make a difference and help them feel relief and a sense of security moving forward. Your donation will help them focus their attention on Danny and finding a living donor instead of looming medical bills
