Help..family deals with cancer, liver disease, cyber attack
Donation protected
Our family has been devastated by two major health crises happening at once. My mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with aggressive LUNG cancer. Unfortunately, her care was delayed due to the cyber attack on the Kettering Health Network here in Ohio, which directly impacted her treatment timeline. She had to wait weeks while Kettering got their Health group facilities back online because of this cyber-attack, which delayed Patty's crucial early treatmen. While we were dealing with this devastating news, I was also diagnosed with a serious liver condition, causing Encephalopathy and other debilitating symptoms.
Currently, my wife is the sole caregiver for both of us. She works full-time as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse, but now she's having to split her time between caring for her mother at the hospital and taking me to my various doctor appointments. She's already missed work and is struggling to get her FMLA paperwork processed.
The next few months are going to be incredibly challenging for our family. My wife will need to stay at her mother's house to remain close during treatments and appointments. Managing two households, our combined medical needs, and working full-time feels overwhelming—and that's putting it mildly.
I know my wife would never ask for help herself, so I'm doing it for her. She's constantly eating meals on the run and seems to be stopping for gas every other day, rushing between responsibilities. I would love to help more, but I'm unable to work due to my condition, so the entire burden has fallen on her shoulders.
I've decided to help in the only way I can right now—by asking for your support. I'm trying to raise funds to help her mother, Patty, who is in-and-out of the Emergency Room, rehabilitation, Radiation Therapy, expensive Cancer Drugs that we cannot afford, not to mention the cost of maintaining her residence and the hospice equipment that insurance doesnt cover. For instance, they cover home oxygen, but NOT the tank to put it in...she is going into great debt, as well as my wife, just to keep this all manageable. Its really true that most families are only 1 major health crisis away from financial ruin. We are experiencing that right now. We could also use the help to help my wife recover sime of her lost wages when she has to miss work for caregiving duties and to ease some of the financial pressure of managing our medical expenses and two households.
Any amount you're willing to contribute would be welcomed and deeply appreciated. If you're not able to contribute financially, please consider sharing our story with your friends and family—that would mean the world to us.
We're grateful for any prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes as we navigate this new reality together.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
