Evelyn is a 21 year old student at Humboldt State University majoring in Biology, who has been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer 10/03/2016. My sister found out this news after she had an ER visit 09/15/2016 which they discovered a mass. This mass was as big as a baby’s head, doctor described. She had emergency surgery to remove this tumor which was sitting on her left side; doctor stated he was not able to save neither her left ovary nor her fallopian tube.

The tumor was sent out to pathology which confirmed that it was cancer.

She is getting transferred over to UCSF for her treatment, which for her is a 5 hour drive.

My sister will be starting aggressive therapy treatment for this cancer she is battling with and might need a second surgery depending on what the oncologist encourages. We don’t know how much insurance will cover for all this and our family will have to travel 8 hours for every doctors’ appointments she has and of course for support.

My sister is a strong and independent young woman. She is a very dedicated student, loving person and has a great sense of Humor.

UPDATE: 01/18/2017
Evelyn had a second surgery 12/20/2016 in which doctors went in to take samples of her colon and lymph nodes to make sure cancer has not spread any where else in her body. When doctors went in they discovered 3 more tumors by her belly button which turned out to be cancer. Evelyn will begin Aggressive Chemotherapy very soon. This agressive chemotherapy will have her hospitalized for 4 days every 3 weeks. My parents will have to take time off work obviously to be with Evelyn through this horrible time. Please keep my sister and my family in your prayers. Thank you.
