Help Ethan Fight Leukemia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ann Michelle and I am helping fundraise for my oldest nephew, Ethan Caleb, who has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 13.
Here is a timeline of Ethan’s diagnosis from my cousin, Kuya EC:
“On Thursday (12/9/21), Ethan was complaining about a pain in his stomach the whole night until the next morning (12/10). We decided to take him to the ER for a checkup where he got well and the pain went away with the meds given to him.
While in the ER, the doctors noticed his feet and hands were pale, so they did a full body check up. They did a CBC and smear test to find that his hemoglobin and red blood cells were lower than normal while his white blood cells were too high. They advised us to see a hematologist, who we met with the following Tuesday (12/14). The doctor checked Ethan's lab results and suspected leukemia right away. She suggested we do a bone marrow aspiration and biopsy. On Friday (12/17), he was confined in the hospital and had his bone marrow aspiration on Saturday (12/18).
Today, Dec 22, we received confirmation that Ethan has Acute myeloid (or myelogenous) leukemia (AML). Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) happens when the body makes too many immature blood cells. These cells, called myeloid (MYE-uh-loyd) blasts, can't mature into normal white blood cells. About 20% of kids with leukemia have this type.
AML develops and gets worse quickly, so early diagnosis is important. This is the type of leukemia in children that has a 40%-50% cure rate.“
We, the Absalon Clan, ask for your prayers for Ethan, his mom and dad, Ate CJ and Kuya EC, and their two children, Calyx and Jesse.
At this time, we know Ethan will need 6-10 chemotherapy sessions, hospital stays, and a multitude of other medications to help him fight this battle. We kindly ask, even if its as small as $1, $5, $10, to donate for his treatment to fight this battle. If you are unable to donate, please spread the word out to anyone and everyone you may know. ALL FUNDS will directly be sent to Kuya EC and Ate CJ.
Ethan, know we are here as your family, to help and pray for you during this difficult time. We love you so much!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11
