Dear Family and Friends,
Someone we love needs our help. As many of you know, Ellen has been struggling for almost two decades with an often debilitating illness. All treatments have failed and she has made the difficult decision to undergo major abdominal surgery on November 7th. This surgery has always been an option but the result will be that Ellen will never have children, which is why she has been unwilling to go forward in the past. But now, at age 34, she is without options, which has left her with a great deal of mental anguish along with what will be a mountain of medical debt and lost wages.
Most of you know Ellen as a kindhearted, affectionate, upbeat, passionate and empathetic person. She is often the first to reach out to one who is struggling, even putting aside her comfort to meet their needs. Much to my dismay, Ellen used to miss class in high school to sit with someone who needed a good listener. She often brought home friends who needed a place to stay, whether just a few hours or for a few days. You may also know Ellen as a gifted singer/songwriter. It’s been a while since she’s done an open mic, but if we meet our fundraising goal perhaps she will be ready to get back behind her guitar soon. (If I can figure it out I’m going to link to a beautiful song of hers that’s quite appropriate to this situation.) And if you know Ellen at all, you know that as much as she loves people she also LOVES animals! (Just ask “Demon Dog” Dylan.)
Ellen’s dad and I will be here to assist her physically and emotionally but we are not in a position to help her financially. (I suffer from multiple sclerosis and have huge medical bills of my own.) So, please donate whatever you can to make it financially easier to Help Ellen Heal.
