I know most everyone is having a challenging time right now, financially, emotionally, etc. but even through all of this, I have seen so much generosity and kindness come from people when it seems all hope is lost.
My mom and I haven’t always seen eye-to-eye but we have gotten very close in the past couple of years. She has devoted everything she has to taking care of my grandma whose mental health has been on a gradual decline. This year it reached a point where my mom could no longer give her the care she needs. She finally made the difficult decision to place her in an assisted living facility so she could get round the clock care from
people who are licensed to do so.
She is struggling to pay her own rent on what Oklahoma considers adequate unemployment compensation after depleting her savings and cashing out her 401k to give my grandma the care she needs. Unfortunately, she has run out of money to pay the rent at the facility so grandma (who, at this point, is fully bedridden) will be going back home to my mom’s house. My mom has an injured back so lifting my grandma up and down all the time really isn’t an option. She was supposed to have back surgery before the holidays but she has a $6000 deductible so she has had to put it off until god know’s when.
Her diabetes medication is $900/mo. and her dental implant just fell out. She has no dental insurance to cover getting it fixed. If she can’t eat, she could go into a diabetic coma or even die.
Like I said, I know most of you are barely getting by but I can’t stand idly by and watch my mom struggle beyond her breaking point without trying to do something. What she has suffered this year is far more than I could handle. So I hope you will consider donating to her gofundme. Any amount will help. She would never make a gofundme herself (she has a hard time asking for help) and when I told her I was going to make one for her she was really embarrassed but we all need help now and then and she can’t do this on her own.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and consider helping out a sweet lady who has fallen on really hard times.
