Dave is our buddy. He's always the guy who helps out - he'll help you move, talk to you when you need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. He's never let us down. And now, he needs our help.
On October 2 he was dropping off a friend after dinner. He was just about to pull out onto the street to drive home, his phone in hand to call his wife, when he saw someone stopped behind him. Thinking they might be lost and need directions, he rolled down his window to help. And he was shot.
He took a single round to the right chest/shoulder. The bullet thankfully missed everything vital to life - his lung, the arteries and veins. But that bullet destroyed his shoulder, and required a very complicated surgery to put it back together again. As of now he can't use his right arm at all - and we don't know if he'll every regain the use of it.
Dave and his wife have a little girl, just six months old. They're facing enormous medical bills, lengthy rehabilitation, and since Dave doesn’t have any short term disability insurance at his job, the loss of his salary for at least the next 8 to 10 weeks.
The money raised here will go to basic things like food, rent, and baby supplies for their little girl. It will also go to provide what medical treatments and supplies that insurance won't cover.
Dave has always been there for us. Now it's time for us to be here for him.
