Help Darren Fisher fight Lyme Disease, get his life back and provide other Lyme disease carriers with the research, methods and knowledge that the Canadian Medical System does not have. Help raise awareness, get financial and medical support to fight this debilitating disease.

Darren's Story

In 1982, at the age of 10, Darren was bit by a tick. He immediately suffered from bulls eye rashes, neck pains, headaches and severe joint pains. At this time, doctors did not know anything about Lyme disease and were struggling to come up with a diagnosis. They thought that Darren had Polio, due to some of his symptoms, but could not make a definitive diagnosis. The symptoms came upon him fast, and then simply disappeared as fast as they came with no answers. While the symptoms disappeared, he continued to suffer from insomnia, and anxiety since that initial tick bite.

Fast forward 20 years, Darren was vacationing in Mexico enjoying a fascinating jungle tour, when he became victim to a tick bite yet again. That day in Mexico changed his life and he has suffered from severe daily headaches, chronic fatigue, neck pain, spine pain, and nerve pain all over his entire body ever since. For several years he went to numerous doctors trying to find out what was wrong, what was causing these debilitating symptoms. Eventually doctors told him that he needed to see a psychologist, because his symptoms were 'all in his head'. Finally, he found a doctor in Vancouver who specialized in Lyme disease and he got tested and was diagnosed. He was also diagnosed with various other ailments that are often associated with Lyme disease, such as babesia, anaplasmosis, bartonella, parasitic roundworms, and hookworms.

Sadly, the healthcare system in Canada does not acknowledge this disease, and doctors are not trained to diagnose or treat it. As well, there is currently no conclusive test for Lyme or tick borne infections. Since the Canadian medical system does not acknowledge Lyme disease, there has been no support for medical treatments, doctor fees, medications, medical testing, and alternative medicines, etc., to help Lyme patients, like Darren. The Fisher family has spent their life savings and used up their credit to get the treatments that Darren needs to just stay alive and ease the constant pain.

When you walk into their home you are greeted with a sign that reads:

"God doesn't give us what we can handle, He helps us handle what we are given."

As we have had the amazing opportunity to get to know Darren and his beautiful family, we have been humbled, honoured and blessed by the faith, perseverance and joy that they live each and every day with. Every day is a gift and they cherish the small things. When Darren has a good day, they seize the moment and enjoy the things that he normally can't do.

Next Steps to help Darren fight Lyme

We want to raise money so that Darren can not just survive, but stay alive and live the life that we know that God desires for him, to be the husband to his beautiful wife and the Dad to his active, energetic son that he desires to be.

After years of prayer and research, Darren has found the treatments and locations of these treatments that he requires. There is a Lyme disease clinic in Germany that has been extremely successful in killing the Lyme and other infections that patients suffer from. After the disease and infections are successfully terminated, he will need to go to India for stem cell replacement therapy to repair the damage that 30 years of infection has done. India has the best, most experienced (particularly with Lyme patients) and cost effective stem cell therapy in the world.

We know that God has a plan for Darren and his family and that Darren's story is just beginning. If we can raise the money that Darren needs to get these treatments, and get rid of Lyme disease forever, we believe that this will be a huge breakthrough for Lyme patients in Canada.

The Future of Lyme disease in Canada

Please help Lyme patients who suffer with this debilitating disease raise awareness and get the Canadian medical system to start supporting these patients. Darren's journey with this disease could provide other Lyme patients with the knowledge, tools and treatment plans that could essentially eliminate this disease for good. The Canadian Medical system needs to start doing more reseach and recognizing/implementing the treatments that are proving to be effective and that are readily available in other parts of the world. The Canadian Medical system also needs to start financially supporting Lyme patients and their families. So many Lyme patients are on long term disability because they simply do not know how the Lyme will affect them from one day to the next.
