Help Danny Lanka Bounce Back
Donation protected
Please help my good friend Danny Lanka get through this very rough spot in his life. His smile and cheer mask the trouble, and you'd never know what he was going through.
Danny is a Marine and Navy veteran, a former photographer for the Oriental Institute during archaeological digs in Egypt, and a graphic designer who ran the Mar/Comm department for many years at DoAll.
He is on disability after coming down with Non-Hodgkins cancer. He went through several bouts of chemo, and finally went into remission, but not without residual issues from the chemo. And he also contracted MRSA, the flesh-eating bacteria, and almost died from a blood infection, and went through several surgeries.
As you can imagine, this has affected his ability to support himself and pay for all this medical care. He lost his job, and medical issues hindered his ability to work full time, and then housing became an issue.
He was renting a room in a friend's house when in March of this year he got on his bicycle to ride to get some food, because his car wasn't working and needed repairs he couldn't afford.
He had an accident; his memory is foggy and we're not sure what happened, but he was found unconscious on March 5th and taken to the hospital, where he was in intensive care for several days with a skull fracture. When he came out of the coma, he had neurological (memory, balance) issues. He was hospitalized for over 4 weeks and had to go through occupational and physical therapy. He has lost his sense of smell from that accident, and his balance is now compromised. He's still undergoing brain scans as they saw some bleeding on the brain.
Unfortunately, while he was in the hospital he was informed that his friends could no longer rent to him. He was now homeless, and on the day the hospital was going to discharge him, they were going to send him to a homeless shelter.
Danny has been staying with me since then, and while he's doing better, he needs financial help to get back on his feet. A place to live (there are waiting lists and deposits), car repairs and medical bills are his immediately pressing issues.
Please donate whatever you can, and share this with your online friends and contacts.
THANK YOU!!!
