Save Our Daddy from Deportation

My husband Danny is currently in a detention center under an ICE hold (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) awaiting a deportation and removal hearing.  He is being detained for a warrant that cannot be produced, for a case that was resolved over 19 years ago . Please take just a moment to try and imagine being arrested, detained, and waiting for a hearing to decide whether you are worthy of being allowed to legally continue living under the only laws, in the only culture, of the only country you have ever known.  If the mere thought of this gives you chills, I hope that you can empathize with the battle my family is facing.

Danny was born in Germany.  His father, who served in the U.S. military for over 21 years, was stationed in Berlin at the time.  Danny has lived in the U.S. as a legal resident for 25 years.  I am a citizen of the United States and I have known Danny since middle school.  He committed a crime punishable by law when he was 16 years old.  The case has been closed for almost two decades and we never imagined that something from his teenage years could cause so much destruction to our lives.  We have been married for seven years and have beautiful four year old twin boys.  Our lives have been turned upside down within a matter of minutes when ICE took Danny into custody as he arrived home after picking our boys up from Pre-K.  They have asked every day since when those men will bring their Daddy back home.  I am in constant fear that Danny will face a judge that will not truly see the husband, father, son, brother, little league coach, and tax paying legal resident who was in the process of applying for naturalization.

I  am, quite frankly, in shock and completely devastated but determined to fight for Danny, our sons, and the life we have built.  He would do no less for me.
