Help Curtis Keep on Kickin'

Donation protected
A few weeks ago I was scrolling through my Instagram popular feed and stumbled across a photo of a regal old dog (the one pictured above). I sent it to a few friends and mentioned I might be interested in seeing him at an adoption event held by Found My Animal that he was set to attend at a West Elm store in Chelsea.

Having a little dog who I already love very much at home, I hadn't thought of getting another animal, let alone a senior dog, but something led me into the city from Brooklyn to go and meet Curtis. Once I did, there was no turning back.

At 14-years-old, with Cushing's disease, thyroid issues, a  heart murmur and severe dental issues, I wasn't stopped from taking Curtis home that day, as I really wanted to give him the quality of life he deserved for his remaining days (however long that would be). Knowing he had recently been pulled off a euthanasia table as a stray, I felt like he deserved it. And he had an extreme will to live and such a young spirit, it truly astonished me.

Unfortunately, only days after taking Curtis home, I noticed his mouth began to really bother him. He wouldn't let me touch his face and he began drooling blood. To spare more of the not so fun details, after a trip to the vet ER, I found out Curtis had a serious infection in his mouth. And with his severe dental disease, teeth, and abscesses needed to be removed with surgery. Knowing his medical history and age, I thought long and hard about whether or not to move forward with the procedure, but antibiotics and pain treatment are only a temporary fix to an issue that must be resolved in order for him to have a decent quality of life.

So,  I'm asking for donations for Curtis to be given a real chance at a happy life. I know that his strength will carry him through the surgery and that he will be pain free and bopping around the streets of Brooklyn with me and my other dog Tu.

Please help me let this old man live comfortably in my care. You only just got his second chance! Every dollar helps and we appreciate every penny that goes toward his cause.

You will be helping with the cost of his surgery and subsequent aftercare! I will post updates to keep everyone informed of his progress!

Surgery is slated for Wednesday, May 3rd!
