Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumor and it is estimated that 55,000 Canadians are currently surviving with a brain tumor. Physical and mental struggles aside, patients faced with brain tumor treatment also are also faced with a heavy financial burden from being physically unable to work for an undefined period of time. It is for this reason we have teamed together on a mission to help our dear coworker and friend, Cristina Comeau, throughout her treatment.
At the young age of 45 years old, mother, sister and friend Cristina, was diagnosed with two large brain tumors. Cristina has already had two surgeries where they were unable to remove both tumors in their entirety. The optic nerves were involved which has resulted in Cristina losing all of her vision with the exception of about 11%. Cristina is unable to work for an indefinite length of time and is on approximately 35 pills a day. To keep her medical benefits going it costs $132 a month which covers 80% of expenses for her and her family. Her sick benefits from the government have also run out so every expense is now out of pocket.
What we are asking, is to find it in your heart to help in contributing to assisting Cristina and her family during this difficult time. Any little bit can help, and all is appreciated.
