Help Coop beat Colon Cancer
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and members of the hockey community:
We have started this event and GoFundMe to pull a community together and show our support for an amazing young man who received some difficult news over the holiday break: Colin Cooper (aka Coop). Coop has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer and his battle to start beating it will begin next week.
Coop is a passionate individual, an inspiring coach and a family-first man who has impacted so many in his own community and the hockey community at large. At the age of 29, with his wife and 5-month-old baby, Colin and his families resilience is being tested, and we are rallying around him to "Help Coop beat Cancer".
Colin's journey has been one of dedication and accomplishment. As a player he was a Calgary Buffalo, he played for the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL, and finished his career as decorated goalie for the MRU Men's hockey team. He was also the EBUG for the Calgary Flames!
As a coach, Colin brings an energetic and relationship-first approach, emphasizing a balance between intensity, fun and being a character person. Recognized as Mount Royal's Brian Fleming Student Athlete of the Year during his senior season, Colin's coaching style reflects his commitment to fostering personal growth through positive and uplifting mentorship. He believes in pushing players to achieve their best while instilling values that extend far beyond the game. He has coached for the likes of Crusaders hockey, GDI, spent time with the Victoria Royals organization and now spends his time with Village Sports and STIX Goaltending.
Now, as he faces this unforeseen health challenge, Colin needs our help. The stress of trying to beat cancer can be overwhelming enough, but the financial burdens and stressors should not have to weigh further on this journey for them. We want to ensure that Colin and his family can focus on his battle and recovery and so any funds big or small can help them endure the extra stuff that comes up.
Let's come together and show Coach Colin that he is not alone in this fight. Your donations, thoughts, and prayers will make a meaningful impact on his path to recovery. Thank you for being a part of this compassionate community that stands united in the face of adversity.
Further we will be hosting a "Coop will Beat Cancer" night at Limerick's on January 26th at 6pm. There will be a silent auction with loads of NHL swag and more. A link to the event here so please RSVP.
