I NEED YOUR HELP. My name is Joel Beyer, and this is personal.
Rest assured, this is not one of those long-drawn out social media stories with a comical ending that people seem to like to post and re-post. It’s also not about politics (whew!). This is a true story that is currently unfolding in the life of one of my very best childhood friends.
His name is Christopher Pappas and he has liver cancer. As I write, Christopher is literally fighting for his life. More now than ever before.
Christopher's liver cancer is not a result of bad choices. He was in a bad auto accident many years ago; back before blood was properly screened. Unfortunately he received blood that was contaminated with Hepatitis C. The Hepatitis alone almost killed him. But Christopher is as tough as they come. And just when the Hepatitis C seemed cured – his doctors told him he has liver cancer.
He has already gone through most of the traditional paths most cancer victims attempt. Surgeries, chemotherapy etc., etc. Then, we were prayerfully hopeful he would receive a liver transplant to save his life. But unfortunately, he will not be getting a new liver.
Christopher's condition has taken a turn for the worse. Much worse. The cancer has spread beyond what the doctors had initially expected. Despite applying all known treatments, it has metastasized throughout his body. His hip, his spine and now even into other vital organs. Christoper's life now hangs in the balance. And my guess is, my friend is living his last days (unless God chooses a miracle). Therefore, I am updating this GoFundMe page, to help Christopher, as he prepares for the end of his life. For this reason, once again, I am asking for your help.
I understand this may be a financially challenging time for you and your family. Most of us don’t have a lot of extra money laying around,. But I am praying you might consider giving something. If a very large number of us gave $25, $50 or $100, it would be a tremendous help to him. If you had $500, $1,000 or even more to give, it would be an unbelievable blessing.
Would you please consider as generous a gift as you can? If you can’t, I completely understand. But whether you give or not, would you please also pray for him?
By the way, Christopher would never ask for money like this. He has been one of the hardest workers I have ever seen in my life and is just one of those people who never complains – no matter how difficult his circumstances. Actually, he is usually the one helping others.
