Help Chris recover from LA floods

Donation protected
I'm putting together this campagin to help my brother, Chris, recover from the devastating floods in Baton Rouge this past week. His house and belongings sustained significant damage from rising flood waters, and he now has the daunting task of starting over.

For those of you who know him, you know that he is one of the most loyal, caring, stand up guys you'll ever meet. Throughout this ordeal, he's maintained his composure and positive outlook depsite overwhelming odds. He is an East Baton Rouge Sherriff's Deputy and has spent the better part of his week helping other people. As the tide rose on his own house, he was helping evacuate people, carrying other's beloningings, and trying to keep everyone safe and calm.

The Exterior of the house, before water reached it's peak level.

The living room. At it's peak, the water ended up about six inches above the brick in this photo.

The water rose fast, and they did everything they could to save as much as they could.

I just arrived in Baton Rouge to help him clean up and recover, and I've got to tell you, it's devastating. The entire neighborhood is destroyed, people's lives uprooted, and hundreds of families displaced.

The floors are buckled and destroyed. A crew is coming first thing tomorrow to help demo and remove everything below the water line.

The smell is pretty rough, and everything is covered in sewage water. It's going to be sanitized and disinfected after they remove cabinets, dry wall, tubs, carpet, flooring, etc.

The view out the front door at the neighbor's house. Everyone in the neighborhood is pulling everything out and for the most part throwing it all away. The damage is unreal.

Chris is lucky in that he has flood insurance to help cover the physical damage to the property. He's unfortunately unlucky that none of the contents inside the house are covered by that insurance. He's going to have to replace furniture, beds, kitchen items, appliances, clothes, and more, out of pocket.

Ideally, we'd like to raise some funds in the next few weeks so that we can help him can replace his belongings as soon as the construction and repairs on the house are finished. It's going to take at least a week to remove the damaged property and dry the bones of the house. It will then take 3-4 days for the restoration company to spray the house with anti-microbials to sanitize and remove all possible traces of mold and bacteria. It'll then take 2-3 weeks to repair and replace the flooring, cabinets, walls, etc. At the end of that time, it would be great to be able to give Chris some money so he can replace his things, and purchase new furniture and household goods.

Chris is not one to ask for help. He's not one to accept other people's generosity because he knows that there are so many people in the same position. I know that your support and good thoughts and wishes mean more to him than you'll ever know, and that your donation will truly make a world of difference. Help us get Chris back on his feet so he can get back to what he is good at: helping other people.

Thank you so much for taking the time, and for considering a donation. If you can't help out, maybe you can share it on social media or send it to your rich uncle. Every little bit helps, and it can truly get him back on his feet!

Love,
David

To help prevent fraud, here is some additional information:

My name is David Hudson and I am from Astoria, NY. I am currently in Baton Rouge, LA helping my brother clean and restore his home. I am raising money for my brother Chris Hudson who was affected by the floods in LA. The money will be spent to replace the contents of his house. His flood insurance does not cover any of his personal belongings, so he will use it to help offset the cost of furniture, clothes, appliances, kitchen items, bedding, and other personal items. I have given Chris beneficiary access so that he can withdraw the funds once the house has been restored to good order and is ready to purchase replacement items. I'll continue to manage the page, but he will directly access the funds.
