Help Choco fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nidia and I am fundraising for Choco’s medical treatment as we help him fight cancer. I want to thank you for being here and reading Choco’s story and I hope you find it in your heart to donate and share his story and this campaign. We need all of the love and prayers and no donation is too small. Thank you again.
As I grieved my loved Izzy’s passing, another sweet Bulldog was brought into my life Fall of 2018. Choco is his name, and he was being surrendered and at risk of euthanasia because he was losing his ability to walk. He was just 7 months old at that time. I could not say no to this angel; I took him in as my foster and as they say, the rest is history. I proudly became a foster-fail, and officially adopted him January of 2019. While Choco has been a happy and healthy dog for the most part, we have gone through several previous surgeries to remove benign growths. However, this last one tested positive as a Mast Cell Tumor (MCT), malignant, grade 3 tumor (skin cancer).
Over the course of 3 months, we have found and attempted to remove 2 more malignant tumors. After many prayers and getting a second opinion from Dr. Harmon at Oak Forest Veterinary Clinic, I have been referred to an oncologist and I am taking Choco for the 1st available appointment on October 27th. Her concern is that it has metastasized, and an oncologist would be able to confirm where exactly it is at; if it is local to that one area, or if it has spread. She shared, he has a very aggressive tumor and a very high grade which is very concerning. He will need a full work up and imaging: X-rays, abdominal ultrasound, and CT scan. From there we are looking at possible surgery and radiation.
He is young, he just turned 5 years old in May. Our hope is that it has not spread. He will be needing treatment, it is just determining what the right treatment is. I will know more after his oncology appointment, but I have an idea based on what Dr. Harmon shared.
Asking for help is never easy. I have prided myself in being a hard worker and providing not only for myself but for my loved ones, animals and humans combined. But this, is not something I was prepared for. I don’t think any of us are ever prepared to hear the word, Cancer. He is not insured, and this is an expense that I am taking on, on my own. Everyone who knows me, knows my love for animals, and the love I have for my very own. Choco is not just my dog, he is my family, he is my baby. He deserves the best chance, the best possible outcome, and I want to do whatever is possible to give him this fighting chance. I have an estimate of what this will cost but will know more after his oncology appointment. For the testing and imaging the cost is between $3K - $5K and treatment starts at about $10K.
We appreciate all your love and your support, and most importantly your prayers. I hope you will find it in your heart to donate and help me raise they money needed to provide him the treatment and care he will need. Again, no donation is too small. Please share to have this campaign reach far and wide. And above all, I ask for your prayers as I believe in the power of prayer and what it can do.
He will be going to Sugarland Veterinary Specialists, and he will be seen by Medical Oncologist, Dr. Andrew Novosad.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
Choco’s Mom - Nidia
