Hearing Aids for Children
Donation protected
Hi!!
My name is Amy White. I am 28 years old and I live in Brisbane Australia. I am raising money for the Starkey Hearing Foundation to do a mission trip to help deaf children in Sri Lanka.
I have visited Sri Lanka twice in the last 6 months and during these trips have met local children and families and seen their situation first hand. What started as a personal project has turned into a long term vision to bring joy to the faces of children in one of the most disadvantaged and often forgotten parts of the world.
Some of these children have been abandoned by their families, have very little food or water, and are unable to get an education as they cannot hear. The money raised will go to ensuring these children have access to hearing aids to help them have the best possible chance at a normal life.
We need to raise $33,000AUD in August in order for this to happen.
I think sometimes it is easy to disassociate with the ads we see on tv asking for help in third world countries because we see it so often we almost become desensitised to it. Having seen their struggle first hand, it is not so easy to forget.
Giving one person the gift of hearing may seem like a small act of kindness, but it has a compounding effect on the future of our world.
