Help Chaya ... breathe easier

Donation protected
I would like to take a moment to introduce you to a young woman named Chaya. She is a daughter, a sister and a friend. She is a college student with an infectious giggle. She sees the positive in everyone and aspires to make her mark on the world. She watches the words that leave her lips and is conscious of how her words effect others and she is a breathe of fresh air .... unfortunately, her words are often strenuously expressed and her breath is  labored. Chaya suffers from Cystic Fibrosis.

Chaya's family and friends love and support her unconditionally... unfortunately, her health has taken a downward spiral and she is confined to a hospital bed waiting for a lung transplant. She is on the transplant list at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. There are two other hospitals that are options - in North Carolina and Ohio.

There is a proverb - "love your friend like yourself" ...
Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend,
and together we will walk in the ways of honorable men.

.... together we can help ... we are asking the community to walk together to help Chaya and her family though this difficult time.
We are rasing money for:
*private insurance
*expenses related to testing in North Carolina and Ohio to expedite Chaya being added to their transplant list.
*  fee for the use of medivac to transport Chaya safely

What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening, genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. It is found in about 30,000 people in the United States (70,000 worldwide). People with CF inherit a defective gene that causes a buildup of thick mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs.

When mucus clogs the lungs, it can become very difficult to breathe. The thick mucus also traps bacteria in the airways, which can result in infections and inflammation and often leads to severe lung damage, and eventually, respiratory failure. Respiratory problems are the most serious and persistent complication for people with CF.
