Help Carol support her daughter Carrie with flight and living expenses while daughter Carrie goes through a dual heart and liver transplant. Some of you may already know that Carrie was born with congenital heart problems and has braved 3 open heart surgeries along with other procedures too numerous to count in her 37 years. Her first open heart was at 10 days old - to save her life.
Now, there are no more surgeries that can fix her heart.
Carrie has moved to Philadelphia, a requirement to be close to the transplant center where the University of Pennsylvania Hospital medical team has performed the most dual organ heart-liver transplants for congenital heart patients. She has just been placed on the transplant list.
There is literally no way to predict when she will receive the donation, in 2 weeks, 2 months or 6 months. With the uncertainty, Carol is remaining in Denver until the call comes from Philadelphia. The potential of having only 6-8 hours from notification until the transplant surgery means that a commercial flight does not get her there in time, a private jet On-Demand flight does.
Carol has never missed a surgery or procedure. She has been there for every one of them holding Carrie’s hand, squeezing hard when the anesthesia goes into the IV and kissing her forehead as she’s being wheeled into the operating room. This one will be the most important of all. After the surgery, Carrie will be sedated for several days and Carol will be at her bedside, focusing on Carrie’s healing.
What you probably don’t know is that Carol has been going through treatment for breast cancer for the last year. She has endured surgery, 20 weeks of chemotherapy and 33 radiation treatments. Endured it all – pain, fatigue, nausea, worry, the days where she said “I just want my life back”. The process is just finished and she’s recovering with a few more medical procedures to navigate. With all of that, last year she was not able to work very much. The few wonderful coaching clients she had and couple of great workshops was all she able to conduct did not come anywhere close to her normal income, depleting her financial resources, a worry unto itself when you’re trying to recover.
Our goal is to raise $35,000 to provide support for the On-Demand flight and living expenses in Philadelphia for at least 2 months of hospitalization, no small amount.
