Our father is a father of seven, a grandfather to eight grandchildren, a husband, and a son. On Monday morning, our lives changed completely when he was detained during his immigration interview. He is now being held in an ICE detention center while we wait for his court date, where it will be determined whether he will be allowed to remain here with his family or be deported.

Our family is completely heartbroken and at a loss for words. My father did not have the easiest life growing up, but when he became a father, he completely changed his life. He devoted himself to working, providing for his family, and building a life that he could be proud of. Everything he has worked for has been for his wife, his children, and now his grandchildren.

Our family did everything by the book. He previously renewed his green card for nearly 30 years, but immigration later determined he was no longer eligible, and we’ve been fighting to keep him home ever since. My dad is currently being held at an ICE detention center. Thankfully, we can communicate with him and visit three days a week for just one hour each day. Our attorney is preparing a bond package to hopefully bring him home while he fights his case. Unfortunately, legal fees alone are $7,000, with an additional estimated bond of $5,000–$10,000, possibly more.

Our biggest priority is helping my mom, Rosemary, financially so she can take time off work, visit my dad, afford their daily calls, and keep up with bills while we continue fighting his case. My dad is a loving husband, father, and grandfather who has dedicated his life to his family. He deserves to come home. Any donation or share means more than words can express.
