Yoga Therapy Training

I am seeking financial assistance to complete my yoga therapy training through Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.  I have completed and paid for the prerequisite courses over the last year and a half.  In October I plan to begin a supervised 9 month practicum, and will move from student practitioner to therapist at the completion. This process consists of a week-long residency training in Denver, CO, followed by supervised practice and weekly check-ins with an assigned PRYT mentor, midterm test back in Denver, and ending with another week-long residency in Denver for graduation.

As of now, there is only 1 registered Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist in the state of Missouri. I would like to bring PRYT to my home state and local area, and provide the transformational benefits of Phoenix Rising to my community.

When I tell my life’s story, a common response I’ve received is ‘wow, that sounds like the script for a Lifetime movie.’ Yet I believe my experiences are relatable on a soul level: the experience of loss, betrayal, loneliness, despair, and sorrow is universal to the human experience.
Over the last 10 years I lived through and survived intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, abruptly entering solo-single parenthood, losing my home and business, working with the FBI and testifying as a witness in criminal trial, homelessness, divorce, and the devastating loss of a loved one to suicide, to cover just the highlights...

PRYT is a form of yoga therapy grounded in the latest neuroscience research, psychotherapeutic dialogue, and yogic philosophies and principles. Client-directed sessions focus on the mental-emotional experiences of the receiver through exploration of the physical body (somatics), to release past trauma, and reveal deeper truths grounded in the present. These deeper truths from the body can be used to facilitate transformation and profound healing in the Now.

I am a single mother to a gifted 8 year old girl. I have spent 2018 re-focusing my career in the field of health and healing. A year ago, I began working with a reiki practitioner which offered me a sense of relief and closure to a challenging season of life. I knew I wanted to share this with others, so I received attunements to practice reiki, which has deepened my connection to my calling in life. I knew this was the beginning of a new chapter.

While exhilarating, it's also challenging to make major life changes. I left my career in marketing earlier this year to pursue a life of purpose, that fulfilled my calling to serve others through mental and emotional healing. I want to use my marketing background to promote the changes I want to see in the world, healing and my own dreams. I had the realization that if I am going to encourage my daughter to pursue her dreams and live a life of purpose, I must lead by example.

As of yesterday, I learned I was blessed to receive some Financial Aid from PRYT (huge thank you!), but I still need help affording the program.

Here is the financial breakdown:

$4904 will pay for the remainder of the 600 hours needed to qualify me to practice as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist.

In the next 30 days I need $775 partial down payment to register and hold my spot in this fall's training.

If I am accepted, then by early October I will need an additional $675 for the final down payment.

After that, I will be required to pay the remaining $3,454  within 12 months. I will not receive my certification until this is paid in full. I will have finished the training by summer of 2019, but would not be able to practice as a PRYT until late fall. I'm hoping to be able to pay it off sooner!

Once I am a practicing therapist, I plan to continue training and pursue the 954 hour PRYT track, which is accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and will allow me to register as an IAYT Therapist as well.

During my 9 month practicum, much of my time will be dedicated to study and training, which will be unpaid for the first half. After midterms, I will be able to charge half price for full sessions as a student practitioner. Overall, time that would be normally dedicated to earning income (I currently offer private yoga lessons, and dog walk, in addition to managing an AirBnB) will be allocated to offering free practice sessions, writing reports, and working closely with my PRYT mentor until graduation.

I am *not* factoring into my request money I will need for flights to and from Denver, cost of food, transportation and lodging during training, or lost income.

*** If you are located in the greater St. Louis region, please contact me this fall (2018) about receiving a FREE Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practice session! ***

Yoga Therapy through Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy has changed my life in incredible ways. I intend to open a small practice initially, but eventually my goal is to work with PRYT to facilitate bringing a Phoenix Rising training to the Midwest, so that this transformational practice can be available to more people.

If you're still with me...
I am deeply grateful for your contribution, your thoughts and prayers, energetic support, your time, and your belief in me! So many have given me a hand along the way; I could never have made it this far alone.

Thank you for being a part of my story, and my journey towards leading an authentic life of purpose.
