Aloha, my name is Kau’i. This GoFundMe was created to help my sister-in-law Bri, my brother Keoni, and their two kids, Kycen and Jozie. They’re ages 7 and 2. It will help them rebuild and recover after the devastating floods that hit the North Shore of Oahu.
On Friday, March 20, 2026, a powerful Kona low storm plowed over Oahu, severely flooding where they live in Otake Camp, Waialua. In the early morning, without any warnings, floodwaters from the Otake River began rushing into their yard, quickly rising and leaving them with very little time to react. They grabbed their 2 kids and were barely but thankfully able to get out safely despite how high the water rose within just minutes. Everyone that lives in Otake was deeply affected by this devastating flood.
Bri and Keoni both come from generations that are born and raised in the Waialua and Haleiwa community. Bri’s family home and land that they live on in Otake have been passed down for five generations, a legacy that started with her great-grandfather Tin Fun Achiu.
This GoFundMe is to help them rebuild their lives after this devastating flood and to continue the legacy of their family home for more generations to come. Funds will go towards replacing essential items, assessing damages, restoring their home to livable conditions, and helping them get through this incredibly difficult time as they rebuild and recover.
If you are able to make a donation of any size, it will surely make a real difference. Anything is very much appreciated.
If you would like to send donations directly to the family, please send it to their Venmo: @Briana-Grilho
From our Ohana to yours, thank you for your love, support, and prayers.
