Help Brent Stand!!!
Donation protected
We are raising money to cover the cost of a stander that Brent needs for his electric wheelchair that costs $8,085 (plus the GoFundMe and We Pay fees that equals about 8.5% of monies donated). Through our health insurance, we are in the process of obtaining a new electric wheelchair for Brent, because the manufacturer stopped making parts for his old chair (which is approximately 10 years old and is continually needing repairs). His old chair has the stander feature and it allows Brent to stand about 2 hours a day to relieve pressure, obtain proper blood flow, and to maintain strength in his legs. Our health insurance will cover the electric wheelchair; however, the industry views standing as a luxury therefore, they won't cover that feature. I was hoping to utilize our finaces for a new(er) handicap accessible van, since our old one is 10 years old and has started showing its age. That is our dilemma and why we are asking for help to cover that cost.
Imagine going from being a star athlete; going to states for wrestling, being looked at for minors in baseball, making all kinds of records as the highschool quarterback, and being offered a scholarship for baseball, at a top school, to losing all ability to ever play sports again because you are now incompasitated due to an autoimmune disease. It must be devasting enough to lose the ability to ever walk again, but then to be told that standing is a luxury is just unfathomable! I wouldn't denote it as a luxury, instead I view it as healthy living! Remember this the next time you need or want to stand up. Just think, the comfort of not having leg cramps, blood clots, ulcers from the pressure of sitting too long, of having proper digestion, warm feet due to good blood circulation is all extravagant living because it is a luxury to stand! Please give what you can to help keep Brent living healthy! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
