Our Dad's Story....

In 2015, our dad began having significant pain and slight paralysis on the right side of his face. After what seemed like hundreds of doctors visits and different diagnosis such as, Shingles, Bell's Palsy, and Trigeminal Neuralgia we were finally told dad had a mass forming on his trigeminal nerve. We were told it was not cancer and they treated dad for several infections, but still no relief. June 2016, dad's pain became unbearable, and he was admitted to the hospital where we heard the dreadful words "Malignant Cancer" (poorly differentiated carcinoma of the head and neck). The next few months dad would undergo extensive radiation which has now left him blind in his right eye and hearing loss in his right ear forcing him to wear a hearing aid. Through all of this dad continued to work to keep up with medical bills and his normal monthly bills. We started to see signs of hope in November when dad started fishing again and getting back into his normal routine. That was short lived when January 2017 rolled around and dad was once again hospitalized. This time we recieved news that broke our hearts, the cancer had attached itself to dads brainstem and it's inseperable. The cancer has already taken effect on dad with symptons like loss of balance, weakness, low energy, and sometimes memory loss which has put him out of work. The doctors want to start Chemotherapy soon, but the treatment is going to cost $10,000 alone not including any hospital/doctor visits, or other medication he may need. My mom is constantly in and out of work staying by his side, and has taken over all medical and monthly bills on her own. My sisters (Tena, Tonya, Tera) and I (Ashley) have put together this account to help our family through this tough time. Our dad is a fighter, and we believe he has a lot of life left to live.
