On September 7th, my family and I adopted a beautiful, loving 5 month old kitten named Olivia. 

On January 11th, I was spending the day watching my little sister and Olivia. Around 1 p.m., we realized Olivia was no where to be found and had somehow snuck out of the house so we began to look for her. 

Since it was raining and very cold outside, we wanted to find Olivia as soon as possible. My sister and I created fliers and posted them around our entire neighborhood, checked nearby shelters since she was not wearing a collar, created a craigslist ad, everything to find our baby.

Three days later with still no sign of Olivia, at 8 a.m. I received a call from a nearby neighbor down the block informing me that she has found Olivia in her front yard, but warned me that she was seriously injured. 

Thankfully my sister and I got to her right away and were able to rush her to an emergency vet which allowed her to get immediate attention. Olivia had been hit by a car sometime in the past three days that she was lost. After being evaluated by the vet, she had serious head trauma, a concussion, her right eye was out of its socket, and she appeared to have a fracture of her upper jaw. A battery of tests were performed on Olivia and ultimately Olivia lost her right eye as a result of her injuries. Olivia's medical bills totaled $2,600 after being hospitalized for two days.
