Hi, my name is Aubrey. I’m 27 and recently had to escape an abusive relationship. Leaving was terrifying, but I knew I had to choose safety over staying. I walked away from almost everything I owned and started over in a new place with my two cats.
Not long after leaving, I found out I’m pregnant. It’s been both a blessing and an added challenge while trying to rebuild my life. I’m working part-time and doing everything I can to keep moving forward, but it’s still incredibly hard to manage everything on my own. On top of adjusting to a new life, I’m taking my abuser to court. I’ve reached out for pro bono and shelter-based help, but without a state ID here, I keep getting turned away.
So far I’ve raised a little over $500, which has helped more than I can say. I’m still hoping to raise enough to afford a lawyer, stay on my feet while I work, and prepare for my baby. Things are incredibly difficult without my own source of transportation and I am unable to drive due to my epilepsy.
Every donation or share helps me take one more step toward safety, stability, and a brighter future. I’m holding onto hope that better days are ahead, and your support gives me the courage to keep going.
