Hello my name is Ashley and I started my health journey in Sept 2018. I started seeing a nutritionist through my bariatric office, we met once a month for six months and I was able to lose about 50lbs before surgery. I had a Sleeve Gastrectomy on June 6th 2019. The first picture below is me at my heaviest, the second one is one month post-op and the third picture is me Sept 2020 with a total weight loss of 146lbs.
I have over come many things, learning a completely new way of life , a food addiction, my self image and self doubt. Unfortunately with all of the successes I have hit a major road block. I have had to go on disability due to a bad knee and nerve pain in my back. I started the long road to get treatment in Sept 2020. I am still working on being treated for my issues but the biggest help will be to get all of my excess skin removed. Most of the excess skin is hanging dead weight on the front of my body which is pulling down on my spine and knee. In addition to that the skin folds pose other health risks such as skin infections, getting caught on objects and major fatigue.
My skin removal will be divided into 3 different surgeries and the money is for what the insurance will not pay for the first surgery. The first one I am getting will be my complete torso and pelvis not including chest. This one is the most crucial since it will get the most weight off in one surgery. This page is not the only way I am trying to come up with the funds. I am exhausting all of the resources I have, unfortunately due to falling on hardships my credit is terrible and I keep getting denied for loans.
This first surgery will cost about $19,000 (i rounded up) and I was told by the plastic surgeon’s finance department tha
t insurance will probable only cover $5-6,000 so try and save about $12,000. Payment for surgery will be due 2 weeks before surgery.
I want and need to get back to work as soon as possible. My income was cut by a decent amount going on disability and I am barely able to pay my bills. I got the flu in January and ended up in the ER 3 times without insurance. I had just started my new job and was still in my probationary period. Luckily my boyfriend Matthew was able to help, but we just got out of the hole that dug.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. As I collect money from sources outside Go Fund Me I will update the goal amount (after I collect at least $100). I understand if you cannot donate, but if you could share this I would really appreciate it.
