Help Ashlee Get Back on Her Feet

My name is Ashlee McElroy. I am 22 years old (soon to be 23 on March 31st). My life has gotten a little harder over the last 5 months nearly. I've been hospitalized in 6 different hospitals and now a rehab. This has caused me to also miss 5 months of work. I'm not asking for much from you and just your love and support is enough. I have backed up bills from personal bills, doctor visits, hospital stays, and test. Insurance pays for some of it but not nearly enough. They have been so understanding about it but unfortunately they do not pay themselves. I also had to resign from school this semester which was one of the hardest things for me because I'm ready to graduate and begin my true passion, teaching. I also pay for my schooling out of pocket. For those of you that do not know what is going on with me, neither do we. They are trying hard to figure that out, although it might not be the rate we'd like it at. Patience is important at this point and keeping a positive attitude and fully trusting in God. I'll try my best to give a brief summary of the past 5 months. In December I was hospitalized for 8 days with Polynephritis, during the stay I got sepsis. In January I was hospitalized with c-diff and was hospitalized for 7 days. In February i began feeling extremely worse so I went in the hospital with my resting heart rate of 134. I was hospitalized for 8 days and got my gallbladder taken out. At this point im trying to fully listening to my body and realizing I was just steadily going downhill. I could barely move around my body was hurting all over, I had no energy, my body was staying so hot, and I was sweating through my clothes every second of the day. The doctor that did my gallbladder surgery told me that this was normal but I knew better, my body was trying to tell me something. At the Eunice high track meet on March 5th I got very weak. I could barely stand. I went home began vomiting and I collapsed. I went to the ER and my appendix was slightly swollen but they didn't think much of this but I had to beg the doctor to be admitted because I knew something was wrong with me. I mean at this point I wasn't able to walk without help. So I was told I was going through a thyroid storm. And then later confirmed that I had Graves' disease. But that things could've gotten even worse if I wouldn't have gone gotten help. I'm on thyroid medicine and something to slow my heart rate down. The thyroid storm caused me loss muscle strength and I lost my ability to walk. The doctors think it could possibly be something else beside my thyroid. But it took one doctor looking for the right type of things. If you aren't feeling good or your body is trying to tell you something please listen to it. I lost my ability to walk but I could've lost my life. My symptoms are not the "textbook" normal. I recently had lost 70lbs and was finally feeling good about myself. But once I got sick I gained 35lbs of it back. Weight gain is also not a "textbook" norm of Graves' disease. I went to er after er complaining and knowing something was truly not right with my body. Doctors laughed in my face. Doctors told me it was all in my head. God pulled through and gave an amazing doctor the answer. But I just wanted to share my story because I know that many people were wondering. Don't ever stop pushing and being an advocate and if you can't be that for yourself get someone to. God bless you all. I love you all. Hold onto your family tight and be thankful for everything God puts into your life! Anything will be helpful. I'll even accept prayers! Thank you for reading my story and thank you for helping!
