Help Artisha

There are times in your life for which you cannot prepare. Times when you cannot stop your life from crumbling around you.

I met Artisha in 2005 while working at a preschool in Denver. She was quirky and funny and we became good friends. I envied her boldness and her child-like faith in God. Over the next few years she would become one of the first people to alter how I saw my faith. She would become my sister. A year later, Artisha left the preschool and married our mutual friend Michael. We lost touch.

A few months ago, ten years after she left the preschool,  Artisha and I found each other again. I discovered her in the middle of this situation that no wife or mother should have to face.

Artisha and Michael have four children: Isaac (now 7), Lillyrose (4), Mikaela (2) and Joyanna (9 months). About a year ago, information began to surface that resulted in them separating. Artisha has chosen not to share details out of respect for Michael and in the hopes that reconciliation will happen in the future.

When Michael left their home, Artisha was not set up to support the four children alone. She had been staying home with their children and homeschooling Isaac. Due to events that occured during their separation, Artisha is in the process of seeking a long-standing order of protection. As part of the process the court has ordered him to pay child support so that has been helping to cover some expenses, including food and half of the rent. However, if Artisha is given the plenary order of protection, Michael cannot retain his position as a sheriff's deputy and even that small help will disappear.

She is hoping to go back to school and, for now, is looking for work but, as you can imagine, having four young children and facing a situation like this makes that very complicated. Her savings is gone and she is faced with more expenses than Michael's child support can cover. She needs to be able to show the judge that she is capable of providing for her children.

She finds herself living in a state where she is far from her family and friends. And, unfortunately, she likely faces a legal battle for custody of her children in the near future. My sister, surrounded by her four beautiful children, feels very alone. I hear her stubborn refusal to give up on God and I know He has not given up on her.

She needs help. This is what the Body of Christ is for.
Artisha believes that 6-12 months of support would be sufficient. At this point, she's looking for a total of $20,000.00.

Here's the budget breakdown:

- She currently owes her lawyer $700.00.
- She tells her to expect a bill of $5,000.00 - $8,000.00 more before this battle is over.
- She estimates she will need $15,000.00 to cover food and utilities over the next 6-12 months while she finds income to sustain them.

This makes for a total need of $20,000.00.

Please prayerfully consider joining me in supporting this Godly woman as she does her best to bring herself and her children through this. We know they will be stronger because of this but it is hard on each of them.

I was in a place very similar to this only a year and a half ago and a friend used this site to help me raise the money I needed to get through that period of my life. I saw God use it to do things I would never have even thought to ask Him for. I want that for Artisha. I want her to be able to look back at this time from the other side and to be able to point her children to this period as a time God showed himself through the believers around her.

Thank you for reading her story and for your help!
