Help and Hope for Eli's Future

Donation protected
Hello. We, Becki de Voogd and Bob Honeysett, are part of Eli Honeysett's family. We share this message on behalf of our family and friends.

We have a wonderful, kind and fun-loving 6 year old nephew called Eli. Back in April this year, he was struck with a rare neurological condition called Transverse Myelitis. He was at school playing with his twin brother Isaac on the Friday….and then on full life support 3 days later.

Eli is still all of the amazing things we mention at the start of this message…..but sadly he is now completely unable to move his body. He communicates by blinking and with some fantastic facial expressions. He has been  on full life support in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at New Zealand’s Starship Hospital for over 3 months.

Eli puts us to shame with his patience, sense of humor and kind spirit.

Our brother and his wife (Matt & Tracey) have made sure there is always one of them by Eli's bedside in Auckland. They are often separated as they are also looking after Eli’s twin brother Isaac and their younger brother Jesse, 400 miles away at home on their farm in Featherston. They never complain.

We don't look at statistics or time-scales but we do pray for Eli to be well again despite his future being so unknown. For us, being half way across the world is extremely difficult. We feel so helpless and want to do something to put a big smile on Eli's face and raise important funds.

This is where we ask for your help....

We would like to raise £10,000. It will be split in three ways:

- Eli's Fund: This is to help Eli with his future care needs.

- Ronald McDonald: This charity has helped Matt and Tracey no end. They have provided them with a house and food whilst they stay in Auckland which has taken many day-to-day stresses away from them.

- The Starship Foundation: This is a social-profit organisation that raises funds so Starship Children's Health can better care for its young patients

Our main fundraising event is the Winter Monster Race on Saturday 12th November 2016, at Charlton Park Estate in Wiltshire. It is a 5k (or 10k if you want to race the circuit twice) muddy obstacle race. The aim of the event is to raise money, and if we can have fun at the same time this is a bonus!

We kindly ask for your suppport by sponsoring us to compete in this race. Each donation means so much and we are ever so grateful. Please share this mesage as far as you can. Eli means the world to us, and if you have ever met him or his twin brother Isaac...you would understand in an instant why.

Thank You x
