Help Alvin & Di Stay in Australia
Our dear and beautiful friends, Alvin and Diana Assangi, have worked hard to establish their lives in Australia and have devoted themselves and considerable financial resources to obtaining permanent residency here. They recently discovered that they have been misled and stuffed around by an (insert angry expletives) immigration agent and that their PR visa application has been mishandled - such that they will not succeed unless they restart the costly and time consuming process. Their current visas, which allow them both to work full-time, expire in one week. If they do not obtain new visas that allow them to stay, they will have to leave the country and will face additional difficulties in trying to take their two beloved dogs, Sherlock and Bella, with them. We are exploring every available option to keep them here.
While Di’s current employer doesn’t want to lose her, sees her as someone with a long term future at the company, and is willing to sponsor her PR application, the fact that she was hired through a third-party on-hire agency is a complicating factor that is making it difficult. At the moment, it seems that Di might have to return to full-time study and obtain a student visa. This will only allow her and Alvin to work 20 hours per week each. This means that they are facing student visa application fees of about $3000, course fees of $10,000 or more, health insurances fees and reduced working hours.
This campaign is aimed at raising money for the new visa application fees and to assist with the huge costs they are facing. This is an emergency - they have one week to come up with the money to pay for the application fee.
Alvin is highly regarded among the local Cross-fit community. Having started at CrossFit Diamond Valley and trained as a Coach, he is now General Manager/Coach at CrossFit Soul Rebel Greensborough. He is well-known for his infectious smile, energy, and enthusiasm. Di always impresses with her quiet, steady work ethic, gentle nature and huge heart, then surprises with her cheeky sense of humour. Australia is lucky to have them – please help them stay!
