My name is Matt I met Allan in 2013 at a stroke survivor support group, very quickly I realized his true passion to learn to walk again. He is one of the most determined individuals I know. I went to San Jose with Allan, his mother Dionie and brother JR on November 1st. I could see passion in his eyes and hear excitement in his voice and I am more than excited to see him succeed in fulfilling his dreams...
Please share on social media, even if you are unable to make a contribution. Thank you!
You will find his story is below written in his own words. The walker he is trying to get is the Gait Harness system, you will see it at the end of the short video. Any little bit helps. Thank you so much!
MY STROKE STORY:
I woke up on a lazy Sunday, January 12, 2008 with the biggest headache. I thought that I was going to die. I quickly ran to my sister and said ‘‘we have need to go to the emergency room." We calmly drove to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, I stumbled to the help desk. This was my last memory of walking.
After surviving two brain surgeries and my doctor giving me 2% chance to live, I can proudly say that I’m a stroke survivor. It’s a blessing to be alive, but unfortunately I have to get around on a wheelchair. I haven’t walk for 7 years. The only positive thing in being immobile is getting the veterans discount. I was in the hospital for a total of six months trying to rehab or walk.
The machine that I want to purchase cost over $6 thousand. This machine will help me exercise and help me walk someday. My insurance won’t pay for it, so please help me. The biggest donation will receive a lamp from my garage. THANK U.
