HELP SEND SAYRE HENDERSON TO REHAB!

Donation protected
Sayre Henderson is a 23 year old young man, who will hopefully turn 24 next month.  Sayre Henderson lives in California.  Sayre Henderson has touched the hearts of The Open Doorway of Cape Cod, Inc. without even knowing it. I was reading posts on the Facebook Page Heroin Is Killing My Town and I saw a mother pleading for help with her son.  I reached out to them and asked them to please refer her to us, if they were unable to help them.  What prompted me to read that exact message or to feel that we needed to reach out to them personally?  Perhaps it was my brother....

You see, my brother was 26 years old and he was trying to get sober on his own. He was doing heroin and suboxone he bought off the street to hold him over - he tried not to do heroin for periods of time but he could not take being "dope sick". My brother was waiting for insurance to kick in so that he could get treatment... and while waiting, he died from a heroin overdose that was laced with fentanyl this past December....

When Sayre's mother messaged me and told me his story - that he has been using since age 17 - that he tries to get sober on his own... all of the things she expressed sounded just like my brother.  Does it sound a lot like someone you know... or knew?  His parents are divorced and, like many families of addiction, are simply "tapped out" financially. Sayre has Medi-Cal insurance, and it is not accepted at many places.  If Sayre were from Massachusetts, then The Open Doorway of Cape Cod, Inc. could get him help TODAY. But he doesn't live in Massachusetts.  He is desperately trying to get help and live a life of recovery.  As we all know, addiction is a disease, and heroin is a thief in the night.  It takes over people's lives and souls.  This young man is asking for help - for OUR help. For YOUR help.

Please help us get Sayre Henderson the help he needs - to send him for treatment here on Cape Cod.  He needs to be in a program that WORKS.  In a program that CARES! We are trying to earn enough funds to have him go to a detox program in California and then have him travel here to be admitted to a 12-Step 30 day program, in the hopes that we can also cover a month of expenses for him to go into Sober Living - we do not just want him to be "thrown out" into the "world" and be at his most vulnerable state - without help.  We want to be there for him as much as we can after discharge, and help him adjust before going home.  If, by a miracle, we can earn more money then we will have him stay in treatment for 60 or even 90 days!

We are depending on YOU.  Yes, YOU.  Reading this now. His family. His friends.  Strangers.  People who have lost loved ones to addiction.  Other addicts. Those in recovery who understand the struggle. People who simply care.  This young man needs your help.  Please help us help him!!!  Every penny helps - every dollar! If everyone who reads this gave just $1, imagine how fast that would add up!  Please donate. Please share.  Please help this young man so that his family does not have to bury him like my family had to bury my brother.  Help now. While you can.  Don't say later, "I wish I had done more."  Do more TODAY.

All proceeds will go directly to The Open Doorway of Cape Cod, Inc. where all of our services are FREE! We will hand the funds over to the treatment facility, we will purchase the flights, we will provide transportation, we will pay the facility for sober living costs.  There are no salaries to be paid - we all work voluntarily.  We are a newly formed non-profit organization that helps those struggling with addiction. If you need a donation receipt for tax filing purposes, please do not hesitate to ask us.  100% of the funds go towards helping Sayre Henderson!

Please donate today! Please help save and change Sayre's life!
