Joey's Dental Surgery: Help Sweet Boy Feel Good Again
Donation protected
Can you help my sweet Joey get the dental surgery he needs?
I fostered this cuddly boy for Animal Rescue of the Rockies three years ago until I fell in love and adopted him. He was either hit by a car or has a congenital jaw problem; so his jaw is askew, causing his tongue to poke out, drooling, and dental problems. I felt an affinity with Joey: we are both a little wonky medically, great at napping, and snuggly.
Lots of adopters want perfect cats. I wanted Joey to have the love and care he deserved despite his health issues. After adopting him, I found out that Joey also has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which attacks cats' immune systems and leaves them more vulnerable to infections.
Over the last few years, I have been able to afford two dental surgeries and daily medication for Joey. Recently I found out that he has a re-absorbing tooth that needs to be surgically removed as soon as possible. Tooth resorption is a painful dental condition that occurs when a cat's body breaks down and reabsorbs the structures that make up a tooth. The exact cause is unknown, but left untreated it can lead to infection and even organ damage.
I lost a wonderful job due to a mass workforce layoff that wiped out the communications team. So the $2,000 cost of the dental procedure, x-rays, and blood work has come at a terrible time financially.
I would appreciate any donation you are comfortable with to help get this boy pain-free. He is the BEST roommate and his hugs and purrs (yes, he really hugs) help me relax and feel good. He is only 6, and too young to suffer with a tooth problem that could could make him sicker.
Thank you, my friends. Joey loves visitors if you'd like to say hi!
P.S. Here's Joey when he was found living under a trailer in a trailer park in Nebraska -- with a damaged jaw, broken teeth, a torn ear, and GI issues from poor quality food. He was begging to come indoors. We think he once was someone's pet but don't know how he ended up in the trailer park. I'd like to think he's living his best life now...
