On November 13th, 2015 - my 8 year old nephew was diagnosed with cancer. He had gone in to get his tonsils out that very week they were biopsied because they were extremely large. Things started to move pretty quickly after that, although it never seems fast enough when it's your loved one, especially a little kid. So far the pathology points to high grade b-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. After 2 weeks of scans, blood work, bone marrow biopsies, and a lumbar puncture - we are finally almost through the staging process. On Monday, November 30th - he will have a procedure to get a port, or central line and start his first chemo treatment at UCSF Benioff Oakland Children's Hospital. He will be there 2 weeks out of every month for the foreseeable future. Danton is a big brother to a 2 year old brother, Gibson & has a sister, Abrielle on the way - due in January! He's the wittiest, most thoughtful & caring kid any auntie could ever hope for - too smart for his own good, I always say!
