On behalf of our co-workers and community we ask for your prayers and support for Betty Wills, an angel and a friend. Betty was born in 1965 in Livermore, California and is the proud mother of a boy and girl ages 14 and 16.
Growing up she touched the lives of all who had been blessed to know her. She was a laid back, kindred spirit with a heart of gold. She spent all of her days humbly loving on her children and giving them her all. In the community Betty was well loved for the work she did at Quail Garden Assisted Living where she looked after and provided companionship to the elderly. Betty helped to take care of our communities aging population and provided comfort to those in their final days. While many of those she helped every day were in the care of hospice, never for a moment had any of those around her suspected that she soon would be in need of similar care.
Betty was taken by a co-worker to a nearby emergency room after noticing her sudden loss of appetite and other changes in her personality at home and work. It was there that the discovery of a mass was found on her CT scan. She was immediately rushed to Stanford Medical Center, and while in their care it was discovered that several cancerous masses were in both her brain and lungs. Thanks to the brilliant medical team, and their quick decision to conduct brain surgery and remove one of the masses from her frontal cortex, we have been given some extra time with her, and thus the world is a better place with her in it a little longer. Having quickly progressed to stage 4 prior to being under the care of a doctor or oncology team, the options for Betty were minimal. At this point, our main objective is to keep her as comfortable in her final days as possible, and to surround her with love.
Lifting the financial burden would alleviate some stress from Betty, as a single mother, and ultimately from her teenage children means helping them to give their lovely Mama a dignified and proper burial as well as to have some financial sustenance in their Mother’s absence. At her young age, Betty hadn’t prepared for final expenses, or even dreamed that she would be absent for the adulthood of their children. She often spoke of her hopes for them as adults, such as marriage and a bright future. Although she will not be able to experience the joys of Grand motherhood, or be present for the wedding of her children, those of us who have always loved Betty and had her love in return will rally to her aid and see to it that her babies are surrounded with love and support in her absence.
After speaking with Betty’s limited family, and praying on this hardship we have concluded to reach out to the community, and to seek donations to help her children through this difficult time. Her children are smart, sweet young individuals with a bright future, and their mother is a hard working member of our community, with an infectious smile that will forever warm our hearts. Anytime we have asked of Betty she has without a doubt come to our aid, and now during this trying time, they deserve our support. It is our hope that if enough people can give just a little, the impact and blessing this will bring to the children will be huge.
Please help them in any way that you can, and please repost this and share it with your community. God Bless you all and thank you in advance for your prayers, well-wishes and generosity. We will keep you informed with updates as time progresses.
